AI-suggested

Red Hat is investigating affected products and may release fixes in the future. Until then, no specific mitigation actions are provided by the vendor advisory. Users should monitor Red Hat advisories for updates. Given the high privileges and user interaction required, limiting access and cautious handling of untrusted registry files may reduce risk.

Description

A vulnerability in hivex allows an attacker to cause a denial of service by triggering an out-of-bounds memory read when parsing specially crafted Windows registry hive files containing malformed large data block lists. This flaw results in application crashes but does not impact confidentiality or integrity.
