AI-suggested

Restrict untrusted systems from the Layer 2 broadcast domain where iscsiuio-managed interfaces operate. If IPv4 DHCP is not required for iSCSI boot, configure static IP addressing. If DHCP must remain enabled, limit DHCP/BOOTP traffic so only trusted infrastructure can reach the affected host. These mitigations reduce the risk without requiring immediate patching. Patch status is not explicitly stated in the advisory; check vendor advisories for updates.

Description

A heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability exists in the iscsiuio component of open-iscsi due to incorrect length calculation in the DHCPv4 option parser. This flaw allows an attacker on the same network segment to send a crafted DHCP response that can crash the iscsiuio daemon or corrupt its network configuration. The vulnerability affects systems using specific iSCSI offload hardware and DHCPv4 for iSCSI boot. Mitigations include restricting untrusted systems from the Layer 2 broadcast domain or using static IP addressing if DHCP is not required.
