Technical Analysis

This vulnerability involves an Out-of-Bounds Write (CWE-787) triggered when Autodesk Revit parses a specially crafted PDF file. Exploitation can result in denial of service through crashes, data corruption, or potentially arbitrary code execution with the privileges of the running process. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 7.8, reflecting high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The attack vector is local with low complexity and no privileges required, but user interaction is necessary.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can cause the Autodesk Revit application to crash, corrupt data, or allow execution of arbitrary code within the current process context, potentially compromising system integrity and confidentiality at the user level.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, users should avoid opening untrusted PDF files in Autodesk Revit and apply standard security best practices to limit exposure.
