Description
A missing break statement in the DSI OpenSession processing code of Netatalk versions 1.5.0 through 4.4.2 causes a switch case for DSIOPT_ATTNQUANT to fall through into DSIOPT_SERVQUANT. This results in unintended session option handling that may allow a remote attacker to cause a minor service disruption by sending crafted DSI session options.

Technical Analysis
Netatalk versions 1.5.0 through 4.4.2 contain a vulnerability (CVE-2026-44075) caused by a missing break statement in the DSI OpenSession processing logic. Specifically, the DSIOPT_ATTNQUANT switch case falls through into DSIOPT_SERVQUANT, leading to improper handling of session options. This flaw can be exploited remotely to cause a minor denial of service by sending specially crafted DSI session options.
Potential Impact
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a minor service disruption (denial of service) by exploiting improper session option handling due to the missing break statement. There is no impact on confidentiality or integrity, and no privilege escalation is involved.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, consider restricting access to the Netatalk service from untrusted networks to reduce exposure.
