Description

CVE-2026-50032 is a vulnerability involving a NULL pointer dereference in the MMS Write Named Variable List handler. An attacker adjacent to the network can cause the server to crash by sending a WriteRequest containing an empty listOfData field. This results in a denial of service condition due to the server's inability to handle the malformed request properly.

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is a NULL pointer dereference triggered in the MMS Write Named Variable List handler when processing a WriteRequest with an empty listOfData field. The flaw allows a network adjacent attacker to crash the server by causing it to dereference a NULL pointer, leading to a denial of service. The issue is categorized under CWE-476 (NULL Pointer Dereference). No patch or remediation information is currently provided, and no known exploits are reported in the wild.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation causes the server to crash, resulting in a denial of service. There is no indication of privilege escalation, data disclosure, or code execution. The impact is limited to service availability disruption.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, consider limiting network adjacency exposure to the affected service to reduce risk.
