Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-9817 describes a stack-based buffer overflow in the formUploadFile functionality of the boa web server component on TOTOLINK X2000R firmware version TOTOLINK-X2000R-Gh-V1.0.0-B20250421.1327. An attacker with authentication privileges can send a specially crafted HTTP request that triggers this overflow, leading to potential arbitrary code execution. The vulnerability is classified under CWE-121 (stack-based buffer overflow) and has a high severity impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected device, compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability. This could lead to full system compromise or disruption of device functionality.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is currently provided. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict authenticated access to the device's web interface and monitor for suspicious activity related to form uploads.
