Users should monitor vendor advisories for updates. As this is a local attack vector involving crafted VRML files, restricting access to untrusted VRML content and limiting local user privileges may reduce risk.
Description
A stack-based out-of-bounds read vulnerability exists in the VrmlData_Scene::ReadLine function of the VRML parser in Open CASCADE Technology (OCCT) V8_0_0_rc5. This flaw allows an attacker with local privileges to cause a denial of service by supplying a crafted VRML file that triggers reading beyond the bounds of a fixed-size stack buffer due to improper bounds checking in the quoted-string escape handler.
