Technical Analysis

The H5P module h5p-nodejs-library versions up to and including 10.0.4 contain a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability. This flaw permits an attacker to upload H5P content embedding malicious JavaScript code. When other users view this content, the malicious script executes in their browsers, potentially leading to unauthorized actions or data exposure. The vulnerability is tracked as CVE-2025-7062 and classified under CWE-20. There is no indication of known exploits in the wild or available patches at this time.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows attackers to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the context of users viewing the malicious H5P content. This can lead to session hijacking, unauthorized actions, or data theft within the affected application environment. The vulnerability affects user trust and application integrity but requires user interaction to trigger.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict or carefully validate user-uploaded H5P content to prevent malicious scripts. Monitor updates from Lumi Education UG regarding patches or official mitigations.
