Users should upgrade to X.org X Server version 21.1.25 or later and XWayland version 24.1.14 or later where this issue is fixed. Until patched, restricting access to authenticated clients and limiting privileges may reduce risk.
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability exists in X.org X Server before version 21.1.25 and XWayland before version 24.1.14 due to improper lifecycle management when adding or removing XInput master devices. Authenticated X clients could exploit this flaw to crash the X server, causing denial of service, or potentially execute code within the X server context.
