Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in AirAsia MOVE App (up to version 12.47.1) allows a local attacker to perform path traversal via manipulation of the _display_name argument in the getRealPath function of the com.airasia.core.utils.RealPathUtil component. This could potentially allow unauthorized access to files outside the intended directory. The vulnerability is classified under CWE-22 (Path Traversal). The vendor has not issued a response or patch, and the exploit is publicly available.

Potential Impact

An attacker with local access to the device can exploit this vulnerability to traverse directories and potentially access or manipulate files outside of the intended scope. The CVSS score is 4.8 (medium severity), indicating limited impact and requiring local privileges. There are no reports of active exploitation in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official fix or patch is currently available from the vendor. Users should avoid granting local access to untrusted applications or users. Monitor vendor channels for any future updates or patches. Since the vendor has not responded, caution is advised when using affected versions.
