Description

CVE-2026-81848 is a server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in the cyberchitta scrapling-fetch-mcp package affecting versions 0.2.0, 0.2.1, and 0.2.2. The issue exists in the s_fetch_page and s_fetch_pattern functions within src/scrapling_fetch_mcp/_fetcher.py. Technical Analysis

The vulnerability CVE-2026-81848 in cyberchitta scrapling-fetch-mcp up to version 0.2.2 involves server-side request forgery via the s_fetch_page and s_fetch_pattern functions in the _fetcher.py source file. An attacker can remotely exploit this flaw to induce the server to send crafted requests to arbitrary destinations. The issue is resolved by upgrading to version 0.2.3, which includes the patch identified by commit 9f6f34e92c55c3d95566ad9c62aca7327d24533a.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation of this SSRF vulnerability can allow an attacker to cause the affected server to make unauthorized requests to internal or external systems. This could lead to information disclosure or interaction with internal services not otherwise accessible. However, the CVSS score of 5.1 and the medium severity rating indicate a moderate impact level without direct privilege escalation or code execution.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the cyberchitta scrapling-fetch-mcp package to version 0.2.3 or later. This version contains the official fix for the SSRF vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
