Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-46471 describes a vulnerability in the GStreamer gst-plugins-good package prior to version 1.28.2. The issue arises in the isomp4 plugin's qtdemux_parse_uuid function during MP4 file parsing, where a heap buffer overflow allows reading beyond the allocated memory. This can result in an attacker disclosing contents of heap memory, potentially leaking sensitive information.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows an attacker to disclose contents of heap memory by exploiting a buffer over-read during MP4 file parsing. This could lead to information leakage but does not indicate direct code execution or system compromise based on the provided data.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in GStreamer gst-plugins-good version 1.28.2. Users should upgrade to version 1.28.2 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation guidance is provided.
