Technical Analysis

TensorFlow v2.18.0 contains a vulnerability where setting the padding parameter to 'valid' in the tf.keras.layers.Conv2D layer can trigger a denial of service condition. This flaw affects the specified version range >=2.18.0 <2.18.1. The vulnerability does not have a CVSS score but is rated as high severity by the source database. No known exploits are reported in the wild. A patch is available to remediate this issue.

Potential Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability results in a denial of service, potentially causing TensorFlow-based applications to crash or become unresponsive when using Conv2D layers with padding set to 'valid'. This can disrupt machine learning workflows or services relying on this framework version.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available for this vulnerability. Users should upgrade TensorFlow to a fixed version beyond 2.18.0 to mitigate the risk. Since this is not a cloud service, remediation requires updating the affected software in the deployment environment.
