Description

An unauthenticated remote attacker can modify the TLS client trust store in Brocade ASCG versions before 3.5.0 by supplying an unauthorized Certificate Authority certificate to an unauthenticated management interface. This modification can cause the system to trust unauthorized certificates, potentially enabling Man-in-the-Middle attacks against outbound communications with managed switches and peer nodes.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-87425 describes a vulnerability in Brocade ASCG versions prior to 3.5.0 where an unauthenticated remote attacker can modify the TLS client trust store by supplying an unauthorized CA certificate via an unauthenticated management interface. This allows the attacker to cause the system to trust unauthorized certificates, which may enable Man-in-the-Middle attacks against outbound communications with managed switches and peer nodes.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to add unauthorized CA certificates to the TLS client trust store, undermining the trust model of TLS communications. This can lead to interception and manipulation of outbound communications, compromising confidentiality and integrity of data exchanged with managed switches and peer nodes. Availability is not impacted.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is provided in the available data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the management interface to trusted networks and monitor for unauthorized configuration changes.
