AI-suggested
Users should upgrade to Apache Arrow version 26.0.0 or later, which disables file-controlled KMS URLs by default and requires explicit opt-in. Alternatively, users of affected versions should specify the KMS URL explicitly in the KmsConnectionConfig when reading files or ensure that their KmsClient implementations perform strict validation of any received KMS URLs. If opting in to file-controlled KMS URLs in version 26.0.0 or later, users must ensure KmsClients validate the URLs to prevent token leakage.
Description
CVE-2026-92287 is a vulnerability in Apache Arrow's C++ Parquet and PyArrow libraries from versions 4.0.0 to 25.0.1. It involves the pass-through of unvalidated Key Management Service (KMS) URLs to KMS clients when reading Parquet files with decryption properties configured. If the KMS URL is file-controlled and the KMS client does not validate the URL, a KMS token could be sent to an attacker-controlled host. Version 26.0.0 addresses this by disabling this behavior by default and requiring explicit opt-in via a configuration flag.
