Technical Analysis

GitLab EE contained an XSS vulnerability (CVE-2026-10086) affecting versions >=16.4.0 <18.11.6, >=19.0.0 <19.0.3, and >=19.1.0 <19.1.1. Under certain conditions, an authenticated user with developer permissions could inject malicious client-side code that executes in the context of another user's session. This was caused by improper neutralization of input during web page generation. The vulnerability has been fixed in versions 18.11.6, 19.0.3, and 19.1.1 respectively.

Potential Impact

An attacker with developer-role permissions could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary client-side scripts in the context of other users' sessions, potentially leading to session hijacking or other client-side attacks. The impact is limited to authenticated users with developer permissions and does not affect unauthenticated users.

Mitigation Recommendations

The vulnerability has been remediated in GitLab EE versions 18.11.6, 19.0.3, and 19.1.1. Users should upgrade to these or later versions to mitigate the risk. No additional vendor advisory indicates alternative mitigations or that no action is required.
