Published: 06/29/2026 (06/29/2026, 06:02:15 UTC)
Source: GCVE Database
Product: gitlab

Description

GitLab CE/EE versions from 17.11 up to but not including 18.11.6, 19.0 up to 19.0.3, and 19.1 up to 19.1.1 contain an authorization vulnerability. This flaw could allow an authenticated user with developer-role permissions to bypass package protection rules and overwrite protected Maven package metadata. The issue arises from incorrect authorization checks under certain conditions. The vulnerability has been remediated in versions 18.11.6, 19.0.3, and 19.1.1.

Technical Analysis

An authorization vulnerability in GitLab CE/EE affects versions >=17.11.0 <18.11.6, >=19.0.0 <19.0.3, and >=19.1.0 <19.1.1. Authenticated users with developer-role permissions could bypass package protection rules and overwrite protected Maven package metadata due to incorrect authorization checks. This issue has been fixed in versions 18.11.6, 19.0.3, and 19.1.1.

Potential Impact

An attacker with developer-role permissions could overwrite protected Maven package metadata, potentially compromising package integrity and trust within the affected GitLab instances. This could lead to unauthorized modifications of package metadata, affecting software supply chain security.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade GitLab CE/EE to versions 18.11.6, 19.0.3, or 19.1.1 or later where the issue has been fixed. Since this is an authorization bypass vulnerability, applying the official patches is the recommended remediation.
