AI-suggested

Upgrade Bitwarden Server to version 2026.4.0 or later, where this missing authorization vulnerability is fixed. Self-hosted deployments are not vulnerable to this issue.

Description

Bitwarden Server versions prior to v2026.4.0 have a missing authorization vulnerability in a provider service API endpoint. This flaw allows a provider service user to add an arbitrary organization to their provider via the POST /providers/{providerId}/clients/existing endpoint, potentially leading to takeover of the target organization. This issue affects only cloud deployments, as the endpoint is restricted from self-hosted installations.
