Vendor/Project: Brocade
Product: Fabric OS

Description

Brocade Fabric OS versions before 9.2.2d and versions 10.0.0 through 10.0.0a1 have a vulnerability where the system directly accepts Apache configuration file data during service setup or re-initialization. This flaw allows an attacker who can corrupt the configuration structure to cause a persistent denial of service (DoS) by preventing the web management service from starting or recovering. This impacts the administrative web interface, making it unavailable for management tasks.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in Brocade Fabric OS affects versions prior to 9.2.2d and from 10.0.0 up to 10.0.0a1. It involves the direct acceptance of Apache configuration file data during service setup or re-initialization. An attacker with the capability to corrupt this configuration can cause the web management service to fail to start or recover, resulting in a persistent denial of service condition on the administrative web interface. This vulnerability is identified as CWE-93 (Improper Neutralization of CRLF Sequences in HTTP Headers).

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation results in a persistent denial of service of the administrative web interface, preventing administrators from accessing the web management service. This could hinder management and monitoring of the affected device but does not indicate remote code execution or data compromise based on the provided data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch links are provided in the available data. Until a patch is available, restrict access to the administrative web interface and ensure that only trusted administrators with high privileges can perform configuration changes to reduce the risk of configuration corruption.
