Description

Coder versions from 2.26.0 up to but not including 2.34.8 have an authorization flaw in the GET /api/v2/workspaces/{id}/acl endpoint. This flaw allows authenticated users with workspace use access to retrieve group members' emails, login types, status, and timestamps by exploiting insufficient authorization checks. The vulnerability does not impact integrity or availability but exposes some sensitive information.

Technical Analysis

Coder versions 2.26.0 before 2.34.8 contain an incorrect authorization vulnerability in the GET /api/v2/workspaces/{id}/acl endpoint. The endpoint improperly checks only workspace read access before fetching group members using an elevated system context. As a result, authenticated users with workspace use access can query this endpoint to harvest group members' emails, login types, status, last-seen, and creation timestamps, leading to information disclosure.

Potential Impact

This vulnerability allows unauthorized disclosure of group member information such as emails, login types, status, and timestamps to authenticated users with workspace use access. There is no impact on data integrity or availability. The confidentiality impact is limited to information exposure.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in Coder version 2.34.8 and later. Users should upgrade to version 2.34.8 or newer to remediate this authorization flaw. Patch status is confirmed by the version range in the description. No additional mitigations are indicated.
