Technical Analysis

The WPC Smart Messages for WooCommerce plugin suffers from a missing capability check (CWE-862) in its ajax_enable function. This flaw permits authenticated attackers with low-level privileges (Subscriber or above) to change the activation state of smart messages, potentially impacting the integrity of message display settings. The vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 4.3, indicating a medium severity level. No official patch or remediation guidance has been provided yet.

There is no indication of confidentiality or availability impact.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict Subscriber-level access to trusted users only and monitor for unauthorized changes to smart message settings.
