AI-suggested

SELinux enforcement may mitigate some attack vectors but does not fully prevent the vulnerability. Users should monitor official vendor advisories and update buildah and podman to fixed versions once available.

Description

CVE-2024-11218 is a high-severity vulnerability in the buildah and podman build tools that allows improper privilege management. It arises from a race condition triggered by using the --jobs=2 option when building a malicious Containerfile, potentially enabling container breakout. While SELinux may mitigate some effects, it does not prevent file and directory enumeration on the host system.
