Description

CVE-2024-12086 is a vulnerability in rsync that allows a server to enumerate the contents of arbitrary files on a client's machine during file transfer. This occurs when the server sends checksums of local data to the client to determine what data needs to be sent. By manipulating these checksum values, an attacker can reconstruct file data byte-by-byte from the client. The vulnerability affects rsync and has a CVSS score of 6.1 (medium severity). A fix is available in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 updates.
