Technical Analysis

The Order Export & Order Import for WooCommerce plugin suffers from a CWE-22 path traversal vulnerability in the download_file() function. Authenticated attackers with Administrator or higher privileges can exploit this flaw to read arbitrary files, specifically server log files, potentially exposing sensitive data. The vulnerability affects all plugin versions up to and including 2.6.0. There is no indication of known exploits in the wild or available patches at this time.

Potential Impact

An attacker with Administrator-level access can read arbitrary log files on the server, which may contain sensitive information. This compromises confidentiality but does not affect integrity or availability. The impact is limited by the requirement for high privileges (Administrator or above).

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict Administrator-level access to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious activity related to file downloads within the plugin. Avoid exposing sensitive log files unnecessarily.
