Technical Analysis

The Events Manager – Calendar, Bookings, Tickets, and more! WordPress plugin contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability (CWE-79) identified as CVE-2024-2111. This vulnerability allows authenticated users with contributor-level or higher privileges to inject arbitrary web scripts via the physical location input field due to inadequate input sanitization and output escaping. The injected scripts execute in the context of users viewing the affected pages, potentially leading to session hijacking or other script-based attacks. The vulnerability affects all plugin versions up to and including 6.4.7.1. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 6.4 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N), reflecting network attack vector, low attack complexity, and limited privileges required. No patch or official remediation details are currently provided.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an authenticated user with contributor-level or higher permissions to inject persistent malicious scripts into pages via the physical location field. These scripts execute in the browsers of users who access the infected pages, potentially leading to information disclosure and integrity impacts such as session hijacking or unauthorized actions performed in the context of the victim user. Availability is not affected. There are no known exploits in the wild at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is released, restrict contributor-level permissions to trusted users only and consider disabling or limiting use of the physical location input field if possible. Monitor vendor channels for updates and apply patches promptly once available.
