Until an official fix is available, users should avoid processing untrusted or unauthenticated .gguf files with llama.cpp. Monitor official llama.cpp channels for updates and apply patches promptly once released.
Description
CVE-2024-21825 is a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the GGUF parsing functionality of llama.cpp. It arises from an integer overflow or wraparound issue in handling GGUF_TYPE_ARRAY and GGUF_TYPE_STRING data. A maliciously crafted .gguf file can trigger this flaw, potentially allowing code execution when processed by vulnerable versions of llama.cpp.
