What to do
AI-suggested
Organizations should immediately restrict local administrative access on systems running the TNMS Client to trusted personnel only, employing the principle of least privilege. Implement strict access controls and monitoring on endpoints hosting the TNMS Client to detect and prevent unauthorized memory access or dumping activities. Use endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools to alert on suspicious processes or privilege escalations. Consider isolating TNMS Client installations on dedicated, hardened workstations with minimal user interaction. Employ full disk encryption and memory protection mechanisms to reduce the risk of memory scraping. Regularly audit and review user accounts with administrative privileges on guest OS environments. Until an official patch is released, coordinate with Infinera support for any recommended workarounds or updates. Educate users about the risks of local privilege misuse and enforce strong operational security policies around network management systems.
Description
In Infinera TNMS (Transcend Network Management System) 19.10.3, cleartext storage of sensitive information in memory of the desktop application TNMS Client allows guest OS administrators to obtain various users' passwords by reading memory dumps of the desktop application.
