What to do

AI-suggested

Until an official firmware patch is released, organizations should implement specific mitigations to reduce exposure. First, disable remote management interfaces (e.g., WAN-side access to router administration) to prevent external attackers from reaching the vulnerable function. Segment the network to isolate the router from critical assets and limit access to trusted devices only. Employ network-level filtering or firewall rules to restrict inbound traffic to the router’s management ports. Monitor network traffic for anomalous patterns indicative of exploitation attempts targeting the fromSetIpMacBind function. Regularly audit router configurations and logs for unauthorized changes or suspicious activity. If possible, replace vulnerable Tenda AC9 devices with alternative hardware that has received security updates. Stay informed through vendor advisories and apply firmware updates immediately once available. Additionally, educate users about the risks of using outdated firmware and the importance of securing network devices.

Description

A Stack Based Buffer Overflow vulnerability in tenda AC9 AC9 v.3.0 with firmware version v.15.03.06.42_multi allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code via the fromSetIpMacBind function.
