A patch is available that fixes the issue by correctly handling the iov_iter direction in the block layer. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix. No additional mitigation is indicated by the vendor.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's block layer involving incorrect handling of iov_iter direction has been resolved. Syzkaller reported a warning due to an iov_iter used in the wrong direction when a transfer direction of SG_DXFER_TO_FROM_DEV is specified. This causes the kernel to copy user buffers into the kernel, read into them, and then copy data back to user space, using the iovec in both directions. The fix detects this situation and constructs a new iterator with the correct direction for the copy-in operation.
