A patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions to resolve this issue. The fix ensures proper handling of pipeline resets and state synchronization between kernel and firmware after suspend. Users should update to a fixed kernel version to prevent audio resume failures caused by this vulnerability.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ASoC SOF ipc4-pcm component caused misalignment between kernel and firmware states after system suspend when audio was active, leading to audio resume failures. The issue arises if the firmware crashes during audio playback or stream reset before suspend, causing IPC errors and interrupted state changes. Errors on stream close are ignored, allowing kernel state correction on the second DSP boot after a panic. This vulnerability has been resolved in patched versions.
