What to do
AI-suggested
- Immediately restrict application administrator privileges to trusted personnel only and enforce strong authentication mechanisms such as multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- Monitor and audit all file upload activities within the Veritas eDiscovery Platform to detect anomalous or unauthorized uploads.
- Implement network segmentation to isolate the eDiscovery server from critical infrastructure to limit lateral movement in case of compromise.
- Apply the official patch or upgrade to Veritas eDiscovery Platform version 10.2.5 or later as soon as it becomes available.
- Employ host-based intrusion detection systems (HIDS) and endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools to identify suspicious file creations or modifications on the server.
- Conduct regular security assessments and penetration testing focusing on file upload functionalities.
- Use application whitelisting and restrict execution permissions on directories where files can be uploaded to prevent execution of unauthorized scripts or binaries.
- Maintain comprehensive backups and incident response plans tailored to quickly recover from potential compromises involving this vulnerability.
