What to do

AI-suggested

Given the absence of an official patch, organizations should implement immediate compensating controls. These include restricting access to the router’s management interface to trusted IP addresses or VLANs, disabling remote management features if not required, and monitoring network traffic for unusual command execution patterns or unexpected outbound connections. Network segmentation should be enforced to isolate vulnerable devices from critical assets. Regularly updating router firmware when a patch becomes available is essential. Additionally, organizations should consider replacing vulnerable devices with models from vendors with stronger security track records if timely patches are not forthcoming. Employing intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) with signatures targeting command injection attempts on router management endpoints can provide additional defense. Finally, educating users about the risks and signs of router compromise can aid early detection and response.

Description

A command injection vulnerability exists in /goform/exeCommand in Tenda AC18 v15.03.05.05, which allows attackers to construct cmdinput parameters for arbitrary command execution.
