What to do
AI-suggested
- Immediately restrict remote access to the router's management interface by disabling WAN-side administration and limiting access to trusted IP addresses only.
- Segment networks to isolate the router management interface from general user traffic, reducing exposure.
- Monitor network traffic for unusual patterns or signs of exploitation attempts targeting the HTTP service on the router.
- Employ intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) with signatures or heuristics capable of detecting buffer overflow attempts against HTTP services.
- Regularly check for firmware updates from Tenda and apply patches as soon as they become available.
- Consider replacing vulnerable devices with models from vendors with a stronger security track record if immediate patching is not feasible.
- Educate users about the risks of exposing router management interfaces and encourage strong, unique administrative passwords.
- Use network-level controls such as firewall rules to block unauthorized access to the router's HTTP service from untrusted networks.
