AI-suggested
- Immediate mitigation involves restricting access to the /admin/template_admin.php endpoint via network controls such as firewalls or web application firewalls (WAFs) to trusted IP addresses only.
- Implement input validation and sanitization on parameters passed to file_get_contents to prevent directory traversal sequences (e.g., ../).
- Monitor web server logs for suspicious requests targeting the fckedit_action method or unusual file path patterns.
- If possible, disable or restrict the vulnerable functionality until a vendor patch is available.
- Keep the CmsEasy CMS updated and apply official patches promptly once released.
- Employ file system permissions to limit the web server's read access to only necessary files, minimizing the impact of arbitrary file reads.
- Conduct regular security assessments and penetration tests focusing on file inclusion and path traversal vulnerabilities.
- Educate administrators about the risks of exposing administrative interfaces publicly without proper access controls.
Description
CmsEasy v7.7.7.9 was discovered to contain a local file inclusion vunerability via the file_get_contents function in the fckedit_action method of /admin/template_admin.php. This vulnerability allows attackers to read arbitrary files.
