What to do

AI-suggested

To mitigate CVE-2024-34406, organizations should immediately update McAfee Security: Antivirus VPN for Android to version 8.3.0 or later, where the vulnerability has been addressed. If you cannot patch yet, organizations can implement the following specific measures: restrict or monitor the handling of deep links on managed devices to prevent processing of untrusted or malformed URLs; employ mobile device management (MDM) policies to control app permissions and limit exposure to external inputs; educate users about the risks of clicking unknown or suspicious links, even though user interaction is not required for exploitation; monitor application logs and device behavior for signs of crashes or instability that may indicate exploitation attempts; and coordinate with McAfee support for any additional patches or workarounds. Network-level protections such as URL filtering and threat intelligence feeds can also help reduce exposure to malicious deep links.

Description

Improper exception handling in McAfee Security: Antivirus VPN for Android before 8.3.0 could allow an attacker to cause a denial of service through the use of a malformed deep link.
