A patch is available and should be applied. The Ubuntu security advisory USN-6893-1 confirms that this issue is fixed in updated Linux kernel packages. After applying the update, a system reboot is required to complete remediation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's device tree and open firmware driver (of: module) could cause a NULL pointer dereference in the vsnprintf() function due to improper handling of str and len parameters in of_modalias(). This flaw may lead to a kernel crash (kernel oops). The issue has been fixed in updated Linux kernel versions.
