AI-suggested

To mitigate CVE-2024-39828, organizations should immediately apply the hotfix released on June 29, 2024, for R74n Sandboxels version 1.9.5 or later. In addition, users should be trained to avoid opening saved-game files from untrusted or unknown sources to reduce the risk of exploitation. Implementing application-level input validation and output encoding for all user-supplied data, including saved-game file contents, is critical to prevent XSS vulnerabilities. Organizations should also consider sandboxing or isolating the application environment to limit the impact of potential script execution. Monitoring for unusual application behavior and educating users about social engineering risks related to file sharing can further reduce exposure. Finally, developers should review the codebase for similar input handling issues and adopt secure coding practices to prevent future XSS flaws.

Description

R74n Sandboxels 1.9 through 1.9.5 allows XSS via a message in a modified saved-game file. This was fixed in a hotfix to 1.9.5 on 2024-06-29.
