What to do

AI-suggested

Immediate mitigation steps include restricting access to the vulnerable 'forgot-password.php' script through network-level controls such as IP whitelisting or web application firewalls (WAFs) with SQL injection detection and prevention rules. Organizations should conduct a thorough code review and implement parameterized queries or prepared statements to sanitize the 'email' input properly. Until an official patch is released, disabling the password reset functionality or replacing it with a secure alternative is advisable. Monitoring logs for suspicious SQL query patterns and unusual database activity can help detect exploitation attempts early. Additionally, organizations should maintain regular backups of their databases to enable recovery in case of data corruption or deletion. Engaging with the vendor or community for updates and patches is critical to long-term remediation.
