AI-suggested

  1. Implement strict input validation and output encoding on the 'Name' parameter at /dcim/power-feeds/add to neutralize malicious scripts.
  2. Employ Content Security Policy (CSP) headers to restrict the execution of unauthorized scripts in browsers accessing NetBox.
  3. Restrict access to the vulnerable endpoint to trusted users or networks until an official patch is released.
  4. Educate users about the risks of clicking on suspicious links and implement email filtering to reduce phishing attempts.
  5. Monitor web server logs and application logs for unusual requests containing suspicious payloads targeting the Name parameter.
  6. Regularly update NetBox to the latest version once a patch addressing this vulnerability is available.
  7. Consider deploying Web Application Firewalls (WAF) with rules to detect and block XSS attack patterns targeting NetBox.
  8. Conduct internal security assessments and penetration tests focusing on web input handling to identify similar vulnerabilities.

Description

A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in netbox v4.0.3 allows attackers to execute arbitrary web scripts or HTML via a crafted payload injected into the Name parameter at /dcim/power-feeds/add.
