Description
CVE-2024-40927 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's xHCI USB driver related to improper handling of Transfer Descriptors (TDs) when multiple USB streams are active. The flaw causes stale TDs to remain uncleared when an endpoint is stopped, leading to crashes or memory corruption. This bug dates back 14 years and affects multiple Linux kernel versions. It can cause xHCI controller crashes and IOMMU faults, especially with USB Attached SCSI (UAS) devices during error handling. The issue has been fixed in Linux kernel versions 5.15.0-1052.59 and later.
