Description
CVE-2024-40971 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's f2fs file system related to the handling of the SB_INLINECRYPT flag during remount operations. During a remount, the flag is cleared and then reset, creating a timing window where new or opened files may not use inline encryption. This can lead to data corruption if wrappedkey_v0 encryption is enabled. The issue affects multiple Linux kernel versions and has been fixed in updated releases.
