What to do
AI-suggested
To mitigate CVE-2024-41588, organizations should immediately restrict access to the management interfaces of DrayTek Vigor3910 devices to trusted networks and users only, employing network segmentation and VPNs where possible. Enforce strong authentication mechanisms, including complex passwords and multi-factor authentication, to reduce the risk of credential compromise. Monitor device logs and network traffic for unusual activity indicative of exploitation attempts. Disable or limit the use of vulnerable CGI endpoints if feasible, or apply configuration changes to reduce exposure. Since no official patches are currently available, organizations should engage with DrayTek support for guidance and monitor for firmware updates addressing this vulnerability. Additionally, consider deploying intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) with signatures targeting exploitation attempts of this vulnerability.
Description
The CGI endpoints v2x00.cgi and cgiwcg.cgi of DrayTek Vigor3910 devices through 4.3.2.6 are vulnerable to buffer overflows, by authenticated users, because of missing bounds checking on parameters passed through POST requests to the strncpy function.
