What to do
AI-suggested
To mitigate CVE-2024-41596, organizations should immediately restrict access to the DrayTek Vigor310 management interface to trusted networks and users only, employing network segmentation and firewall rules to limit exposure. Implement strong authentication and monitor for unusual login attempts or configuration changes. Since no official patches are currently available, consider disabling or limiting the use of the vulnerable management UI features where possible. Employ intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) to detect anomalous CGI parameter usage indicative of exploitation attempts. Regularly check DrayTek’s official channels for firmware updates addressing this vulnerability and apply patches promptly once released. Additionally, conduct thorough network audits to identify all affected devices and prioritize their protection. For critical environments, consider deploying compensating controls such as VPN access for management interfaces and enhanced logging to facilitate incident response.
Description
Buffer Overflow vulnerabilities exist in DrayTek Vigor310 devices through 4.3.2.6 (in the Vigor management UI) because of improper retrieval and handling of the CGI form parameters.
