What to do
AI-suggested
- Immediately restrict access to the router’s management interface to trusted internal networks only, using firewall rules or VLAN segmentation.
- Disable remote management features if not required to reduce exposure.
- Monitor network traffic for unusual POST requests targeting the lan(0)_dhcps_staticlist parameter or other suspicious activity on the router’s web interface.
- Use network intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) to detect exploitation attempts based on known attack patterns.
- Regularly audit router configurations and logs for signs of compromise.
- Contact D-Link support for any available patches or firmware updates and apply them promptly once released.
- Consider replacing affected devices with models that have confirmed security updates if patching is delayed.
- Educate network administrators about the vulnerability and enforce strong network segmentation to limit attacker access to critical devices.
Description
D-Link DIR-846W A1 FW100A43 was discovered to contain a remote command execution (RCE) vulnerability via the lan(0)_dhcps_staticlist parameter. This vulnerability is exploited via a crafted POST request.
