What to do

AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented that adjusts the DMA alignment to the largest cache line size per parisc microarchitecture, preventing the described corruption. Users should apply the updated Linux kernel versions containing this patch to mitigate the vulnerability. No additional mitigations are indicated beyond applying the official fix.

Description

CVE-2024-44949 addresses a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's parisc architecture related to DMA corruption. The issue arises because the ARCH_DMA_MINALIGN value was set too low (16 bytes), potentially allowing two unrelated 16-byte allocations to share a cache line. If one allocation is written via DMA and the other via cached write, the DMA-written value may become corrupted. The fix involves increasing ARCH_DMA_MINALIGN to match the largest cache line size for different parisc microarchitectures, preventing such corruption.
