What to do

AI-suggested

Organizations should immediately restrict access to the management interface of TOTOLINK AC1200 T8 routers by implementing network segmentation and firewall rules to limit exposure to trusted IP addresses only. Disable remote management features if not required. Monitor network traffic for unusual or malformed requests targeting the UploadCustomModule function. Regularly check TOTOLINK’s official channels for firmware updates addressing this vulnerability and apply patches promptly once available. Consider deploying intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) with signatures targeting exploitation attempts of this vulnerability. For critical environments, evaluate replacing affected devices with models from vendors with active security support. Additionally, maintain robust network monitoring and incident response plans to quickly detect and mitigate denial-of-service incidents stemming from this vulnerability.

Description

TOTOLINK AC1200 T8 v4.1.5cu.861_B20230220 has a buffer overflow vulnerability in the UploadCustomModule function, which allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via the File parameter.
