A patch is available and has been released in Linux kernel versions 5.15.0-1072.78~20.04.1 and later. Users should update to these fixed versions or newer to remediate the issue. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
CVE-2024-46702 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Thunderbolt networking driver where the XDomain is not properly marked as unplugged when the parent router is removed. This can cause the system to hang during teardown of network paths after a discrete host router NVM upgrade triggers a hot-remove event. The issue arises because the driver attempts to clean up paths that have already been cleaned, leading to blocking behavior. The flaw has been fixed in several Linux kernel versions starting with 5.15.0-1072.78~20.04.1 and later.
