Until a fix is available, avoid running untrusted traffic control configurations that could trigger this vulnerability. Monitor official Linux kernel advisories for updates and apply patches once released.
Description
CVE-2024-46800 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's netem_dequeue function within the sch/netem module. The flaw occurs when netem_dequeue enqueues a packet to an inner qdisc that returns __NET_XMIT_STOLEN, causing the packet to be dropped without properly updating the parent's queue length. This leads to a use-after-free condition. The vulnerability has a high severity with a CVSS score of 7.8.
