What to do
AI-suggested
- Upgrade Northern.tech Mender to version 3.6.6, 3.7.7, or later where the SSRF vulnerability is patched.
- Restrict network access from the Mender server to only trusted and necessary internal resources using firewall rules or network segmentation to limit SSRF exploitation scope.
- Implement strict authentication and authorization controls to minimize the number of users with high privileges capable of exploiting this vulnerability.
- Monitor logs and network traffic for unusual outbound requests originating from the Mender server that could indicate SSRF attempts.
- Employ web application firewalls (WAFs) or SSRF-specific detection mechanisms if available to detect and block malicious request patterns.
- Conduct regular security audits and penetration tests focusing on internal request handling and access controls in the Mender environment.
- Educate administrators on the risks of SSRF and the importance of credential security to prevent privilege misuse.
Description
Northern.tech Mender before 3.6.6 and 3.7.x before 3.7.7 allows SSRF.
