What to do

AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented that safely accesses the TSF value by copying it into a local variable before releasing the RCU lock. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix once available. Since this is a kernel-level issue, updating to the patched kernel version is the recommended mitigation. No alternative mitigations or workarounds are indicated.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's wilc1000 WiFi driver involves improper use of Read-Copy-Update (RCU) synchronization in the function wilc_parse_join_bss_param. The TSF field of the ies structure is accessed after the RCU read-side critical section is unlocked, violating RCU usage rules. This can lead to unpredictable behavior such as use-after-free conditions. The issue has been fixed by storing the TSF value in a local variable before releasing the RCU lock, ensuring safe access.
